16 Days of Activism across the Rural City of Wangaratta

Rural City of Wangaratta supports 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. This campaign began on 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and runs until International Human Rights Day on 10 December.

This year the campaign encourages people to call out sexism, sexual harassment, and disrespect towards women: Respect Women: Call It Out.

Pitcher This! rolls out to Whitfield

Whitfield is next in line to host a Pitcher This! event as part of the placemaking project rolling out in communities across the Rural City of Wangaratta.

Pitcher This seeks to empower rural communities to present ideas about their own public spaces, events, and gatherings, and how these should be developed for the greatest benefit in each community.

Community Partnership Growing Resilience

In August 2022 the Program put out a call to the community seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to be actively involved in setting the strategic direction of the Grit and Resilience Program and help to build an inclusive, supportive, and well-connected community.

Light up the dark on our shared path network

Rural City of Wangaratta is pleased to be undertaking a new initiative to help light up the dark places on our walking and cycling shared path network.

From 5 September until 5 October, cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to use the Snap Send Solve app to report places on footpaths, walkways and the shared path network that aren’t well lit or don’t feel safe.
