I have lived in the Springhurst area all my life, going to Boralma Primary School. I then attended the Wangaratta Technical College to complete my secondary schooling, before completing a financial management course by correspondence.
I have been involved in the stock and station since leaving school, becoming an auctioneer and presently a livestock representative with Corcoran Parker.
I am the third generation to live in the Springhurst area on a property principally producing wool and prime lamb, having strong ties to the area with both my sons living in the North Ward with their families.
In 1981 I was elected as a Councillor to the former Shire of Wangaratta, becoming Shire President in 1989. I remained a Councillor until the shire amalgamated into what is now the Rural City of Wangaratta. I continued as Chairman on the Wangaratta Saleyards Advisory Committee until was disbanded in 2010.
