Apply for waste charge exemption

Some places can get an exemption from Council waste charges. This is when businesses, schools or residents are using a different waste collection service.

To get an exemption, you must fill out one of the below forms. You'll also need to show evidence that you have another waste collection service in place.

In person

Step 1.Gather your documents

To change your waste service, you'll need to complete one of the following forms:

Commercial business - request for exemption(PDF, 119KB)

School - request for exemption(PDF, 119KB)

You will also have to provide evidence of regular alternative service. For example, a copy of contractor service agreement or the last three months of tax invoices. 

Step 2.Visit us

Bring your documents into our Government Centre at 62-68 Ovens Street, Wangaratta.

Step 3.Waste audit

Once we have received your application and are happy with the evidence you have provided, one of our Council officers will need to do an waste inspection of the property. Following a satisfactory inspection, your exemption will be approved.

Send your documents to the Rural City of Wangaratta, PO Box 238, Wangaratta VIC 3676.

Step 3.Waste audit

Once we have received your application and are happy with the evidence you have provided, one of our Council officers will need to do an waste inspection of the property. Following a satisfactory inspection, your exemption will be approved.
