According to the Occupational Health & Safety Regulations 2007, an unlicensed person may remove non-friable asbestos material if the area does not exceed ten square metres and takes less than an hour to remove within seven days. All other removal must be undertaken and disposed of by a licensed commercial contractor.

Process

Removal, handling and packaging of asbestos must be carried out in accordance with the methods detailed in Asbestos - A Guide for householders and the general public, which can be found on www.asbestos.vic.gov.au webpage.

1. Package asbestos for disposal
