"We offer the National Immunisation Program which includes infants and children aged 0-5 years old and the adult vaccination program.”

Monthly immunisation sessions are held on Thursdays from 9am - 11.00am at locations listed below. 

We also provide catch-up vaccinations for secondary school students and Influenza vaccinations for all ages (adults and children). 

People over the age of 65 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and people suffering some medical conditions may be eligible for a free Influenza vaccination, please note a $10 administration/service charge applies. Vaccine is free, however a service fee applies. Please discuss your situation with a nurse on the day.

Shingles Vaccine is not currently available through Council’s NIP Sessions. We recommend you discuss your vaccination requirements with your Doctor/GP.

To book an appointment you will need to create a CRIV account for the first encounter, for subsequent visits you can log onto your account.

We also provide a free school based immunisation program in Year 7 for Human Papillomavirus (Gardasil) and Adolescent Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (Boostrix) and Year 10 for Meningococcal ACWY (Nimenrix).

To view your Immunisation History Statement you can either:

If you are unable to access the Immunisation History Statement online, you can get a copy by calling the Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809.

Viewing statements for children 14+ years:

If your child is 14 years or over, you cannot view their immunisation history statement in your account. Your child must create their own Medicare online account through myGov to view their immunisation history statement or contact the Australian Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809

If you would like to get a copy of your immunisation history prior to 2016, our Environmental Health team will need your name (maiden name if married) and date of birth. We also need contact details such as phone number and email address if you want your history emailed.

We only have the immunisation history from Council run immunisation sessions, so if vaccinations occurred at a doctor’s clinic or at a different Council, you will need to speak with them.

We recommend all residents continue to follow the recommendations at Beat the Bite to prevent infection with mosquito-borne diseases.

The Rural City of Wangaratta is offering Japanese Encephalitis vaccination to eligible residents who work outside via appointments.

As per the Department of Health guidelines, to be eligible to receive the JEV vaccine, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • People aged two months or older who live or routinely work in any of the following local government areas of Campaspe, Gannawarra, Greater Shepparton, Indigo, Loddon, Mildura, Moira, Swan Hill, Wodonga, Towong, Benalla, Wangaratta and Strathbogie; AND
  • Spend significant time outdoors (four hours per day), for unavoidable work, recreational, educational or other essential activities; OR
  • Living in temporary or flood damaged accommodation (e.g. camps, tents, dwellings exposed to the external environment) that place them at increased risk of exposure to mosquitoes; OR
  • Are engaged in the prolonged outdoor recovery efforts (clean up) of stagnant waters following floods.*

Council will not be travelling to workplaces during flu season, but strongly encourages workplaces to take advantage of Council run flu vaccination sessions being conducted at the Community Room at Wangaratta Children's Services Centre, 1 Handley Street Wangaratta.

Bookings will be open soon and available dates will be indicated by the calendar above. SEE CHARGES ABOVE.

 

Bookings are required for all NIP immunisation sessions. Flu vaccine is available from May onwards to end of year.

FREE FLU VACCINE is available for family members that fall into the following categories:

  • Children aged six months to less than five years. 
  • *Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged six months and older.  
  • *Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy). 
  • *People aged 65 years and older.
  • *People aged six months and older with medical conditions putting them at increased risk of severe influenza and its complications.  

NOTE: *There is a $10 administration/service fee with ‘free’ vaccine.  Vaccine is at no cost, but to administer vaccine a fee is charged.
