Community Recovery
Our Community Resilience and Recovery Program is supporting the recovery from the January 2020 Bushfires.
This is being done through a number of initiatives and events throughout the municipality.
Adverse Event Planning
We are talking to the community about Adverse Events, Emergencies and other impacts they’ve experienced. From floods to drought to fire, we want to hear from you.
To complete an online survey about adverse events and how they’ve impacted you, please go here:
Rural City of Wangaratta Adverse Event Planning Survey
For more information on the sessions happening from 19 February to 2 March please email communityresilience@wangaratta.vic.gov.au.
Community Connection Events
The Community Connection Events Program has been established to help local organisations and groups hold events that support community connection.
As part of our Community Resilience and Recovery Program (with funding from Bushfire Recovery Victoria) and Rural Placemaking Program, funding of up to $1000 has been made available to groups in the Rural City of Wangaratta to hold events that will bolster existing social connections and give residents opportunities to build new ones.
Applications for this program closed on 19 February 2021. Successful applicants will be notified by Council.
#BeReadyWang Program
The #bereadywang program is all about understanding and preparing for your risk. We have developed a series of videos to help with planning for emergencies. Check out the #bereadywang hashtag on facebook.
