Cemetery
The Wangaratta Public Cemetery was established in the 1860s and is managed by the Wangaratta Public Cemetery Trust on behalf of the Rural City of Wangaratta.
The Cemetery has a comprehensive database of cemetery information that dates back to 1862. Researchers or family members interested in genealogy can have the records searched. There is a small fee payable for searches of the database.
Operating Hours:
- Access is available to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Staff are on site 7:00am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. It may be arranged to have staff on site outside these hours, though this must be pre-arranged with Cemetery staff, and is subject to availability and out of hours fees.
The municipality also has a number of smaller cemeteries which are managed by community groups.
