WSAC Operational Hours to Change

The Rural City of Wangaratta is excited to announce the Wangaratta Sports & Aquatic Centre’s (WSAC) heated outdoor pool will remain open during winter for the first time. In addition, they will extend the hours of use for the indoor warm-water pool. The Centre’s overall opening hours will decrease slightly to accommodate these changes, streamline services, and align with industry standards.
To better serve the community, WSAC will trial keeping the heated outdoor pool open throughout the winter season. This initiative aims to alleviate pool congestion by providing more lane space. Wangaratta’s two active and expanding swim clubs, recreational lap swimmers, and learn-to-swim classes will all benefit from the extended outdoor pool hours.
The warm-water pool currently closes earlier than the indoor 25m pool on weekdays and is open for limited hours on weekends, this change will align pool hours and reflects the warm-water pool’s growing demand. Warm water pools can offer therapeutic benefits, aid injury recovery, and improve mobility. This pool is increasingly popular with all abilities and senior centre members.
The decision to coordinate the pool and centre hours is based on thorough analysis of pool usage data. Additionally, the new hours will allow for better lifeguard coverage during session times. The changes reflect Council’s commitment to meeting community needs and aligning WSAC’s operation with industry standards.
Access to the 24-hour gym will remain unchanged.
Rural City of Wangaratta Sports, Aquatic and Events Precinct Manager, Sonya Dalgliesh is a keen swimmer and is thrilled to be extending the outdoor and warm-water pool's hours of operation.

These new hours provide our members with more opportunities to enjoy our top-notch facilities, whether for training, wellbeing, or recreation. We are committed to supporting our community's health and wellness year-round and look forward to seeing everyone make the most of the expanded access." she said.

Monday – Friday 5.45am - 8.15pm
Saturday & Sunday 8.00am - 4.00pm
*Warm water & 25mt pools close 15mins prior to Centre closing times
Outdoor pool (winter hours)
Monday – Friday 4.00pm – 7.00pm
Saturday & Sunday closed
These changes come into effect from 1 July 2024.
