Children’s Services Centre celebrates Children’s Week 2023

Join us at our Children’s Week 2023 celebration! The Children’s Services Centre is hosting a free family event offering a variety of activities on Wednesday 25 October at Lion’s Park, Wangaratta. There will be fun and games to engage the senses, capture the imagination and encourage the creative expression of children and families!

The Children’s Week Council of Australia theme for 2023 is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child article 31: Children have the right to relax, play and take part in activities they enjoy, and the events on offer aim to engage children in new and enjoyable actions in a relaxed environment.

This is a chance for you to connect with local families, meet Wangaratta Children’s Services Centre educators, and observe their expertise as they guide children through a program of imaginative activities. On offer will be a Play-Doh table with natural elements, a painting table where things can get messy, and an area for children to try their hand at musical instruments. If that sounds a bit raucous there will also be a quiet and contemplative zone with cushions and books.

“Our Children’s week celebration will offer a stimulating, supportive environment where children will be encouraged to explore, take risks, and have fun as part of their learning journey.” Said Ben Thomas, Manager of Community Services.

Bunnings, Goodstart Early Learning, Upper Murray Family Care, and the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency will all host their own activities, and The Department of Education will be present to discuss the two years of free kindergarten available to 3 and 4-year-olds, offering the best start in life. A highlight of the morning will be Pulsate Dance Academy’s interactive performance at 11am.

There will be free icy poles, face painting and cookies, and snacks available for purchase from food vans and the Rotary BBQ.
