Cr Dean Rees has been re-elected Mayor of Rural City of Wangaratta, with Cr Harry Bussell to serve as Deputy Mayor for the next 12 months. Both were elected unopposed at the November Council Meeting on Tuesday, November 23.
Cr Rees said he was honoured and privileged to be chosen again as Mayor of the dynamic region.
“I am looking forward to continuing the momentum we have gathered as a Council and as a region as I start a new term as Mayor of Rural City of Wangaratta,” he said.
“I am proud of what we have achieved so far but know there is still an enormous amount of work to be done and hold high expectations for the year ahead as our region begins to recover from the challenges the last two years has brought us.”
Cr Rees thanked his fellow councillors for placing their trust in him.
“It gives me great confidence knowing that a solid foundation has been built through their efforts and foresight and I am certain that the quality and strength of the collective group of our Councilors will hold the Rural City of Wangaratta in good stead.”
Both councillors were born and raised in Wangaratta, with Cr Rees first elected to Council in 2016 and Cr Bussell elected to the South Ward in 2016.
