The Rural City of Wangaratta is aware of motorists concerns around the Christensen Lane area, near Thurles Lane. Traffic management is in now in place and as of Friday 5 July the speed limit has been temporarily changed to 40 km/h to address these safety concerns.

The change in traffic conditions has been put in place due to a pinch point between the road and the curb of the traffic island. Council Officers are also conducting a Traffic Impact Assessment Report (TIAR) for the area. The initial recommendation is to temporarily lower the speed limit until a more permanent solution can be identified and implemented.

Council Officers will update the community when the final recommendations are received, this is expected to take place in the next few months.

“We understand motorists concerns regarding the current traffic conditions around Christensen Lane and safety is our top priority,” said Marcus Goonan, Director of Community & Infrastructure.

“We will work quickly to ensure we find the most effective and permanent solution. We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation.” He continued.
