Inclusive Wangaratta Consultation Open
Published on 13 February 2024
The Rural City of Wangaratta is excited to announce the commencement of community engagement for the development of the Inclusive Wangaratta Action Plan. Over the past year, a dedicated group of 13 community members representing diverse backgrounds and identities have collaborated with Council to craft strategies aimed at enhancing access and inclusion within our community.
The Working Group has identified key actions that can drive positive change and foster a more inclusive environment in Wangaratta. Now, it's time for the broader community to get involved. Council is inviting all community members to reflect on what inclusion and access mean to them personally. It's an opportunity to share perspectives, review the proposed actions developed by the Working Group, and offer valuable feedback and ideas.
“Everyone in the Rural City of Wangaratta experiences our community in a different way,” said Rural City of Wangaratta Councillor Ashlee Fitzpatrick. “We have a responsibility to make sure everyone has the opportunity to be included and involved. This is the community’s opportunity to let us know what we’re doing well, and what it is we can do differently so everyone can take part in all aspects of community life.”
The Inclusive Wangaratta Action Plan is open for input, ideas, and contributions until February 29, 2024. You can participate through the Connect Wangaratta Portal and your feedback will be carefully reviewed by Council Officers in collaboration with the Working Group. Your input will directly shape the final Strategy and Action Plan, which will be presented to the Council in May 2024. By participating in this important process, you are contributing to a more inclusive and accessible Wangaratta for all community members.
Visit connect.wangaratta.vic.gov.au/inclusive-wangaratta to share your ideas and feedback. Let's work together to make Wangaratta a place where everyone feels welcome and valued.
The Inclusive Wangaratta Strategy and Action Plan will incorporate Council’s Access and Inclusion Plan, Age Friendly Strategy, and consider the needs of other communities of priority, including First Nations communities, LGBTQIA+ people, Women, Older and Young people, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities.
