The Rural City of Wangaratta’s Future Proof team proudly present the launch of the Game-on Adventure July school holiday program. Designed for youth aged 12-18, this innovative initiative offers a series of engaging activities focused on skill-building and personal development.

Participants can expect a dynamic lineup featuring activities aimed at honing essential skills such as communication, problem-solving, strategy, networking, leadership, and teamwork. Whether navigating laser tag challenges, scaling boulders with encouragement, or forging new connections over intense rounds of Uno, every aspect of the program is crafted to inspire growth and interaction.

The Game-on Adventure program is offered free of charge, ensuring accessibility for all youth, and providing a secure environment for personal growth and self-improvement. The aim is to empower the next generation to thrive and excel in their journeys towards becoming their best selves.

Manager Arts, Culture & Events, Simone Nolan said, “Future Proof was an initiative that emerged from the Black Summer Bushfires of 2019-2020. It is more than just a program; it is a commitment to our youth. By focusing on upskilling, education, and providing a platform where young voices are heard and valued, we aim to transform the challenges of the past into opportunities for a stronger, more connected, resilient future,"

Thanks to the efforts of the Youth Advisory Council of Victoria (YACVic), Youth Resilient Peer Workers have been employed across multiple rural councils and shires. These individuals are dedicated to giving back to their communities in any way they can, and the Game-on Adventure School Holiday Program is no exception, created for youth, by youth, to build a more inclusive future.

Taylah Jenkin, Youth Resilience Peer Worker: "The Game-on Adventure program is a great opportunity to develop critical life skills in a fun and supportive environment. We are excited to see the positive impact this program will have on our community's young people.”
