Free Parking for Christmas

In the spirit of supporting local businesses, the Rural City of Wangaratta is delighted to announce the return of free parking in the Central Business District during the festive season. From Friday, 8 December 2023, to Monday, 1 January 2024, residents, and visitors alike are invited to take advantage of complimentary parking, time limits still apply.

Mayor Dean Rees expressed his enthusiasm for this annual tradition, highlighting its role in encouraging residents to prioritise local businesses during the holiday season. By providing free parking, the Council aims to create a welcoming environment that fosters community connections and bolsters the economic well-being of Wangaratta.

"We understand the significance of supporting our local businesses, especially during the festive season. Offering free parking is a small but impactful way to encourage residents to shop locally and contribute to the vibrancy of our community," said Mayor Dean Rees

“Local businesses have weathered some difficult times over the past few years. Small

businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we want to do what we can to support them,” he said.

“We are so lucky to have a strong and dynamic business community in the Rural City of

Wangaratta, I will certainly be buying local this Christmas and I hope you are able to put some presents under your tree from our local shops.”
