Events & Attractions Strategy
Published on 21 September 2023
In 2018 the Rural City of Wangaratta adopted the 2018-2023 Events & Attraction Strategy. To date, this strategy has been the guiding document for the events department, the actions within have been instrumental in formalising event funding for the purpose of attracting events to Wangaratta and establishing policies and procedures for the department and essential operations. Over the next few months, the Wangaratta community and key stakeholders will be invited to share ideas, desires and feedback on the future of event delivery across the municipality.
We are reassessing the events landscape post-pandemic and aiming to reset the actions and priorities for the coming five years (2024-2029) and we need your help. We want to know what you want to see, what you have seen, and what might enable Wangaratta’s point of difference to attract tourism to our city.
“This is a great opportunity to review our annual program of events based on the changing needs of our community and ensure that we are delivering accessible, inspiring and well attended events the fulfil the needs of the community” said Mayor Dean Rees.
“We intend for our events to create vibrancy in the municipality, social engagement and enhance resilience amongst our community, we take great pride in ensuring that events are accessible for everyone to enjoy”, he continued.
