Caring and Ageing Well Festival
Published on 12 October 2023
Victorian Seniors Festival celebrations are underway in the Rural City of Wangaratta with free and low-cost events taking place across the municipality. In addition to this celebration next week is National Carers Week, the perfect timing for Wangaratta’s Caring and Ageing Well Festival!
The Caring and Ageing Well Festival will be held on Thursday 19 October 2022 from 10am to 2pm, with exhibitors at both the Uniting Church Hall, Rowan Street and the King George V Gardens, Ovens St, Wangaratta.
The festival will showcase and improve awareness of a range of products and services available which promote beneficial lifestyle choices, and positive ageing. Stall holders will share information on how to best meet diverse needs and assist people to stay active and connected to their community.
All family members and friends of those that are aging would benefit from coming along and gathering information about services and supports related to physical and psychological health, social life, and living environments. Importantly, the festival will also have information for carers: how to remain engaged in the community, participate in the workforce, and stay healthy while continuing their caring role.
Exhibitors are diverse and include Hearing Australia, Elders Rights Advocacy, Older Persons Mental Health, Cycling Without Age, U3A, Country Care Group, Community Garden, and Neighbourhood Houses - Carers Employment Project.
“This is an opportunity for Rural City of Wangaratta to honour and support seniors in our municipality. Seniors have contributed to building our community and deserve to continue to live full, healthy lives.” Said Cr Rees.
“This festival is also an opportunity to support and empower carers, who give and sacrifice so much.” said Cr Rees.
