The Rural City of Wangaratta is linking communities to amenities and helping keep kids safe and active by opening a walk and ride pathway from Arlington Park Avenue across One Mile Creek to Appin Park Primary School, on 23 October at 8.15am.

This project falls under the Building Active Communities module of the VicHealth Local Government Partnership Program, The Rural City of Wangaratta is committed to meeting these requirements over a three-year period.

The Rural City of Wangaratta Community and Recreation team partnered with local children to activate the pathway. Children attended a design day at Wangaratta Library, to make posters promoting active ways to travel to school. These posters have been recreated as footpath decals to be laid along the pathway.

“We have such a great network of safe walking and cycling paths in Wangaratta. It is wonderful to see this project activate the pathway to encourage more local children to walk and ride to school, helping our future generations become more active and healthy.” Said Ben Thomas, Manager - Community Services, Community & Recreation

Official launch: Monday 23 October at 8.15am

Attending: Representatives from Rural City of Wangaratta and VicHealth, and Appin Park Primary School students and their families. All are welcome.
