Budget Consultation on Connect Wangaratta
Published on 11 December 2023
The Rural City of Wangaratta is asking residents for feedback on the 24/25 Budget via Connect Wangaratta - a new website making it easier for community members to have their say about Council projects and activities important to them.
The annual budget is a crucial aspect of community governance, and the Rural City of Wangaratta values the input of its residents. Connect Wangaratta streamlines the feedback process, making it easier than ever for community members to contribute suggestions and ideas for the budget. The portal replaces the traditional written submission method with a user-friendly interface accessible at the tip of residents' fingertips.
The aim of Connect Wangaratta is to foster greater transparency and collaboration between the Council and the community. By involving residents in the early stages of the budget development process, the Council can review submissions with Councillors and incorporate selected initiatives into the draft budget. This shift in approach allows for increased visibility and input from the community before the final budget document is formulated.
Rural City of Wangaratta CEO, Brendan McGrath encourages all residents to explore Connect Wangaratta and share their insights on how the Council can better communicate its actions and objectives.
"We believe that informed and engaged communities make for a stronger Wangaratta. Connect Wangaratta is a step towards enhancing public participation in local decision-making processes," He said.
The platform is not only about the budget but also a gateway to ongoing discussions about various council projects being delivered.
