Additional Busking Spots in Glenrowan
Published on 05 December 2023
In a bid to further enhance community engagement and cultural vibrancy, Wangaratta Council is excited to announce the extension of its successful busking initiative to Glenrowan, just in time for the festive season.
Since the launch of dedicated busking locations in the Wangaratta CBD in 2021, the program has seen tremendous success with over 40 on-the-spot registrations. Council expresses sincere gratitude to all the performers for their valuable contribution to the increased vibrancy and culture of the CBD.
Building on this success, Council has identified four key locations in Glenrowan where performers can showcase their talents. To make the registration process swift and convenient, each designated spot is marked with a distinctive giant sticker featuring a QR Code. Performers can now easily follow the prompts on their smartphones to register and commence their performances instantly. This registration system replaces a previously cumbersome process and gives performers the green light to play without delay. The new stickers will be installed from December 5.
“Glenrowan is a popular tourist destination and the second-largest population centre in the Wangaratta Local Government Area. Performers play a crucial role in entertaining locals and visitors, so facilitating their presence on Gladstone St will contribute to creating a lively and festive atmosphere, enhancing the overall vibrancy of our community.” Said Dean Rees, Mayor of the Rural City of Wangaratta.
“It’s great that a performer can wake up on a Saturday morning and think, I’ve got some time on my hands today, I’ll slip down to the main street and give shoppers a little joy”. He went on to say.
Council encourages locals to enjoy the atmosphere and support buskers as part of their Christmas shopping experience.
