The Wangaratta Liquor Accord is an agreement between licensed venue operators, local police and Council located in the Rural City of Wangaratta.
The aim of a liquor accord is to bring together relevant members of the local community to develop practical strategies that address local alcohol-related problems and protect licensees from impact of alcohol related incidents.
One of the key strengths of the Accord is the ability to ban patrons from all accord venues. Under the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998, members of an Accord may choose to ban a patron for violent, drunk or quarrelsome behaviour from all venues participating in the accord.
Members of the accord meet four times per year, where there is the opportunity to hear from Liquor Control Victoria about industry & regulation changes, discuss issues with local police representatives and meet with other licensees.
