Wangaratta Library

The Wangaratta Library is part of the High Country Library Corporation which incorporates library services for the Benalla Rural City, Alpine and Mansfield Shires and the Rural City of Wangaratta.

In 2007 the Wangaratta Rural City Council entered into a joint venture with Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE and Wangaratta Library, a branch of the High Country Library Corporation, and now delivers an integrated service to both the public and GoTAFE staff and students.

Members have the ability to borrow from both collections and may borrow up to ten items at a time.  We have a well stocked reading section with newspapers and magazines or you can borrow books, videos, talking books either on tape or CD, DVD’s, cd-roms and large print items for the visually impaired.  Search the internet at the library or if you have access at home, go online to the Wangaratta Library Website.  It provides a range of online resources including databases with over 1,000 magazine and newspaper titles or search our library catalogue and place reservations at your convenience.

A range of programs available for children include preschool storytime, bedtime storytime and school holiday activities.  Keep an eye out for adult programs such as the book group and guest speakers.  Modern meeting rooms and training facilities are available for hire at reasonable rates.

The library is housed in premises in an historic buildingin Docker Street.  The redevelopment has provided a 2,000sq m library and community centre that is a premier facility of its type in north east Victoria.
