Families and Children

The Rural City of Wangaratta prides itself on the services it has available for families and children in the municipality.  Families are well served by 21 primary schools, three secondary schools, one specialist school, one TAFE institute and many childcare and kindergarten facilities. 

With the establishment of Victoria's first Technical Education Centre and Year 9 Community College we can also look forward to strengthened links between education and industry.

Municipal Early Years Plan 2016-2020 survey

The Rural City of Wangaratta is developing a new Municipal Early Years Plan for the period 2016-2020. The Municipal Early Years Plan is a “Children’s Plan” that provides strategic direction on how best to support children from pregnancy through to twelve years of age. Read more

Support Services for Children

The Rural City of Wangaratta has a number of services available to parents and carers for children with advanced needs. The Wangaratta Child Care Centre has an advanced needs officer who works directly with and cares for children with advanced needs during time of care at the centre. Read more

Motor vehicle accidents can cause devastating injury to an unrestrained child.It is very importnant that a child restraint is correctly installed and is appropriate to the size and weight of the child.
