Draft 2017–2021 Council Plan and Draft 2017/18 Budget

In accordance with the Local Government Act 1989, Wangaratta Rural City Council has commenced the annual review of its Council Plan and Strategic Resource Plan.

The Wangaratta Rural City Council’s draft 2017/18 Budget has also been prepared, and both documents are now on public exhibition for community feedback through written submissions.

Copies of the Draft Budget 2017–2018 and Council Plan 2017-2021 are available from the Wangaratta Government Centre, Cnr Ford & Ovens Streets, Wangaratta during office hours or click HERE for COUNCIL PLAN and HERE for DRAFT BUDGET

Written submissions must be received before 5:00pm on Friday 16 June 2017.


Submissions are public documents and form part of the meeting minutes. Therefore submitters’ names and addresses will become part of the public record.

Any person who has made a written submission to the Council may request to be heard in support of their submission, or be represented by a person acting on his or her behalf. Where a person wishes to be heard by Council, they must advise this in their written submission. A committee of Councillors will meet on Monday 19 June 2017 at the Wangaratta Government Centre to consider written submissions received and to hear any person who has requested to be heard in support of the written submission. Council will meet to adopt the 2017/18 Budget and 2017-2021 Council Plan at a Special Council Meeting to be held on Monday, 26 June 2017 at 6pm.

How do I make my written submission?

In their written submission, a person may also request to be heard by a Committee of Council in support of their submission, prior to Council considering the proposal. Submitters will be notified before the relevant meeting date.

In Person: You may submit your written submission to Customer Services, Wangaratta Government Centre – Corner Ford and Ovens Street, Wangaratta. Please include “The title of the proposal or document” as the reference to your submission.
