Register of Interests Returns Policy 2017

The Rural City of Wangaratta invites submissions on the Register of Interests Returns Policy 2017.

The policy establishes the requirements for the lodgement of Primary and Ordinary Returns as required by section 81 of the Local Government Act 1989.

The Act and Policy ensure public transparency and also serve to remind those persons who are required to lodge returns about their obligations to avoid conflicts of interest.

Copies of the Polciy can be viewed at the Wangaratta Government Centre, 62-68 Ovens Street or online at www.wangaratta.vic.gov.au.

Submissions can be received until the close of business on Friday, 18 August 2017.

Any person making a written submission may also request to be heard by a committee of Council, in support of their submission, prior to Council considering the proposal.

Draft Wangaratta Industrial Land Use Strategy

Council wants your input into the draft Wangaratta Industrial Land Use Strategy 2017.

The draft Strategy has been prepared for Wangaratta Rural City Council, with assistance from the Victorian Planning Authority.  The Strategy was prepared by Centrum Town Planning, Tim Nott and Terraco.

This is an opportunity for you to review the draft and provide comments to Council on its content.

The Strategy aims to provide a vision and planning framework for Wangaratta's Industrial Areas, including the -

  • re-use or development of older industrial areas;
  • protection from the encroachment of sensitive uses;
  • built form and site presentation;
  • infrastructure planning and funding;
  • protecting potential long-term investigation areas for expansion;
  • the management of issues associated with dwellings in industrial zones; ¬†and
  • industrial development in rural areas.

The public consultation period commenced from Wednesday 19 July 2017 and concludes at the close of business on Friday 18 August 2017.

How do I make my written submission?

In their written submission, a person may also request to be heard by a Committee of Council in support of their submission, prior to Council considering the proposal. Submitters will be notified before the relevant meeting date.
