Major road works will take place on Ford Street next week.
Ford Street will be closed between Murphy Street and Ovens Street, with the Ford/Docker/Ovens St roundabout to also be closed for three nights, between 22 January 2017 and 25 January 2017 (re-opening 6am Wednesday 25 January).
The works will take place between 6pm and 6am, meaning the road will be open during daytimes, though delays are expected.
Mayor Ken Clarke OAM said the works would result in a better road surface for drivers.
“Every effort has been made to minimise disruptions to traffic during the works,” Cr Clarke said.
“This roundabout is the busiest intersection in Wangaratta that Council is responsible for.
“Ford Street is also a major Council road and is in need of repairs.
“These works will cost $245,399 (ex GST) and will have a long lasting benefit to residents.”
Works involve reconstructing the road, resurfacing, modifying underground service pits and sections of kerb and channel replacement.
