Make 2017 a year of action by getting involved in the Rural City of Wangaratta’s free environment and sustainability events. The annual Enviro Events calendar has now been released and is available from Council’s website.
Enviro Events are designed to send an important message to the community about preserving the local environment and taking an active role in creating a sustainable future.
“These events provide valuable opportunities for members of the community to appreciate our beautiful local environment, and to learn how to live more sustainably within it,” Mayor Ken Clarke OAM said.
The first event will be Clean Up Australia Day on Thursday 2 March, starting from the Yarrunga Scout Hall, and will include free pizza and prizes for all volunteers.
The Library will also be hosting a suite of sustainability presentations throughout the month of March on various subjects from worm farming and wicking beds to backyard bees.
In the months that follow, events include a Bat Talk & Spotlight Walk, World Environment Day, Sustainable House Day and National Water Week.
Keep an eye out for these events which will promoted on Council’s social media channels and website or pick up more information from the Wangaratta Government Centre.
