Rural City of Wangaratta 2030 Community Vision.
The Rural City of Wangaratta is pleased to announce the release of the Rural City of Wangaratta 2030 Community Vision.
Developed following one of the largest community engagement projects ever undertaken within the municipality, the Rural City of Wangaratta 2030 Community Vision, clearly defines the Wangaratta community’s aspirations for the future and will guide subsequent planning documents, both internal and external of Council.
The Rural City of Wangaratta 2030 Community Vision is a positive and optimistic statement by our community about the kind of place that, together, we hope to see in the year 2030.
Our shared vision is based on a simple concept that if we, as a community, think about and define where we want to go, the chances are, we will get there. We recognise that good places to live do not just happen - they are built by vision, ideas and a commitment to work toward building a better place for a better future.
This document is not a Council Plan, nor limited in its focus to Council activities and responsibilities. Rather it considers all issues relevant to the Rural City of Wangaratta community, now and into the future.
More than 600 community members who participated in the development of this shared vision showed that our community has a wide diversity of views and ideas but we share a set of core values. It is these shared views about the future that form the basis of this Community Vision.
On behalf of the Rural City of Wangaratta community, I am proud to release our shared vision for the future. Together we all have a responsibility to ensure that through civic engagement and commitment we make a difference. We recognise that the achievement of our vision will require complementary changes and developments across the broader region. We are committed to working with other communities, governments and organisations to ensure this happens.
