Roads & Infrastructure

Provision and maintenance of roads and infrastructure is a core function of Council with a team of over seventy staff responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, drains, footpaths and channels.  
The Rural City of Wangaratta has over 2,400km of road comprising of sealed, gravel, formed and declared main roads and state highways with over 188 bridges including some 39 timber bridges which Council maintains.  VicRoads is responsible for all main roads and declared highways and freeways including the Hume Freeway and the Great Alpine Road.  
If you are proposing to undertake works within Municipal Road Reserves, please complete the following application and forward it to Council. (This form has replaced the vehicle crossing and road opening permit.)
